I’m Laura Taylor, a third year Media, Communications and Cultural Studies student at Newcastle University and I am currently in the sixth week of my internship at Narrative.
Having always been unsure as to what career I wanted to pursue, I took two years out of education after sixth form and worked full-time. Taking this time allowed me to discover where my passions lie, and this led me to enrol on my current university course.
During my course, I have where possible chosen PR modules and have found a love for this sector, however I lacked professional experience. I was introduced to Narrative when Kieron and Aimee visited my University and delivered a presentation about the Narrative ethos and approach to marketing.
I was immediately drawn to their company and started my application for the internship they were offering straight after their presentation. Following an interview, I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to work for them as an intern.
I am interning at Narrative one day a week alongside my studies and am pleased to say that my first instinct was correct, they are such a warm and welcoming team and are completely passionate about their projects and clients.
I have already learnt so many practical skills in the PR department, and it is exciting to be able to apply the knowledge I have gained throughout my course to a working environment and to be able to see the results.
Being an agency who offers an integrated approach to marketing, their digital, creative, PR and marketing departments are located in the same office, which provides me with the perfect opportunity to learn more about all of the services that Narrative offer. I am hoping to broaden my knowledge about how each of these departments work together to support one another and to produce a final marketing campaign.
I am hoping that my time here at Narrative will help to guide my future career choices and provide the beginnings of a career plan. I am looking forward to the rest of my internship. This post was created on 29th October 2018
