Having worked with the marketing team on creative, PR and advertising projects before, including the opening of Hotel Indigo Durham, we were asked to support with media buying and promotion of Crowne Plaza Newcastle’s Black Friday deals and special offers for their gym and spa facilities in 2019 and 2020.
They had two Black Friday deals: Afternoon Tea (targeted to 25+ year olds in the Newcastle area) and Gym/Spa/Room deals (targeted to 25+ year olds in the North East) which were available to purchase on their website and on a third party discount website. We used Facebook advertising to reach the target audience and direct them to the deals with effective creative and timings to drive as many purchases around Black Friday and the following week.

Following the success of this campaign we were asked to work with the team again to promote their ‘New Year, New You’ January gym membership promotion.
The target was 100 new enrolments in Q1 of 2020. We built a plan around a highly-targeted Facebook and Instagram campaign combined with search advertising on Google AdWords to proactively target the increase in the online searches around gym memberships this time of year.
Based on the success of the initial 6-week campaign, it was extended in to March until the gym had to be closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The partnership between Narrative and Crowne Plaza Newcastle is ongoing and we look forward to the full reopening of hospitality and working with them to promote their hotel once again.
