Having developed a great relationship with social housing provider Four Housing, Narrative was selected as the retained agency of choice when the company merged with competitor Bernicia in 2016.
Working to develop an overarching strategy and timeline for merger communications, Narrative’s first port of call was to carry out extensive stakeholder research; interviewing partners, collaborators and even competitors to gauge opinions which would inform the process going forward.
Next, Narrative’s PR and Social Media team held a series of workshops with Bernicia staff – reinforcing the need for effective communications throughout the process and identifying upcoming stories which could be promoted across all of the regions in which the newly formed group operates.
Through a combination of news releases and content for Bernicia’s website and intranet pages, Bernicia is now a recognised name across the region and has achieved coverage in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Sunderland, Teesside and County Durham.
Most recently, the team also held a series of social media training workshops with the aim of making staff aware of the power of social media in order to support their work professionally and personally.
Gordon Arnott, head of communications and content at Bernicia, said:
“Our experience in working with the Narrative team has been universally positive. In the case of our social media training, the courses were perfectly pitched, and gave a clear and easy to understand introduction to both platforms.
“Narrative’s training courses helped to demystify social media for those yet to take the plunge, while providing valuable knowledge for those already using these platforms, but looking to expand their presence and reach. Big thanks to all the team.”
